Beginning at Spring Carlisle 2006, April 20-23, there will be a high-end collector car auction with antique and special interest vehicles, said Carlisle spokesman Brad Adcock.
The inaugural Carlisle Collector Car Auction will be held Friday, April 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the annual Spring Carlisle event. The auction will take place in the new Carlisle Expo Center, located one block from the fairgrounds. The Expo Center, a $2-million addition to the Carlisle Events family, opened in October 2005. The 30,000-square-foot facility can accommodate up to 7,000 spectators.
Carlisle Events CEO John Detrick is proud of the new auction. “Not only is the spring show one of the premier events at Carlisle, and in this hobby, but now we have this world-class auto auction to add another dimension to an already power-packed weekend.”
Detrick added there will be classic cars, motorcycles, cars from the 1950s, 1960s and beyond. Early entries consigned to the event include several from Chip Miller’s personal collection. Chip, along with Bill Miller, no relation, founded Carlisle events in 1974.
Those cars include a 1955 Bel Air convertible, 1963 Buick Rivera, 1963 Corvette coupe, 1967 Dodge Coronet, 1971 Ford Torino GT and a 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe. From his son Lance’s collection comes a red 1994 Porsche Turbo, 1963 Impala and 1956 Chrysler Windsor.
